Character Traits and Literary Essays
In a story, character traits only change at important moments. We need to notice when and how they change. The way the characters change will tell you a lot about the theme, or life lesson of the story.

Mini-Jig-Saw Partner Activity for One Christmas1st view- What are some big ideas you have? 2nd view- View with a lens… Partner 1- Characters (traits based on actions, interactions, etc) Partner 2- Setting (moods, emotions it evokes, changes, etc.) Partner 3- Symbols (repeated objects, colors, ideas, their significance to the message) 3rd view- What different, more layered messages do you see? How do characters react?What do the characters do when they have a problems? In other words, how do the character react and what does that reveal about them? How does that change during the story?
