You are going to read about King Arthur, the Green Knight and the Knights of the Roundtable.The Knights of the Round Table were characters in the legends about King Arthur. They were the best knights in King Arthur's kingdom, and lived in King Arthur's castle,Camelot. They were called the Knights of the Round Table because of a special table that was in Camelot, that was round instead of rectangular. This meant that everyone who sat around it was seen as equal. But there was one knight who was a mystery to all. That was the Green Knight.
Background Knowledge: The battles of Lexington and Concord. Language Focus: Reference Reference: Authors use pronouns when they are writing. It's important to know who or what the pronoun refers to. We can learn the what the reference is by reading before the pronoun.
1. Example: "Meg had gone out to the barn to fetch a pail of milk. On her way back inside, she stared..." / Her and she refer to Meg. We can infer the reference from the previous sentence. 2. Example: It was a sunny, mild day in April 1775. / It refers to the weather. We can learn the reference by rereading the sentence and inferring. |
