We are getting ready for the school exams. Your child is focused now on test taking skills, test vocabulary, and knowing different kinds of test formats. This will include multiple choice questions, short answer questions, and essays. They will also need to listen to a story, write notes as they listen, and then use their notes to answer questions about the story. They must also be able to look at graphic organizers and charts to gather information.
All ESL students are also going to have the NYSESLAT test in April. This is the test to decide what kind of English lessons they need next year. The NYSESLAT does not decide if your student passes or fails the 4th or 5th grade. The ELA test and the NYSESLAT test are two different tests.
You should check their NYSESLAT test practice book to see what homework your childis doing. Ask your child to exp
